My name is Michael Shojaei Bakhtiyar and my family has served the great Persian empire from the time of our beloved Cyrus. I love our heritage, culture and people.
Our nation and our culture have endured decades of loss and injustice.
We have hoped many times, only to be disappointed. I understand why it has become difficult to believe again.
My own family has been hunted and assassinated. We have suffered deeply, yet we have never abandoned the people of Iran or the great Persian civilization to which we belong.
Today, the doors of hope are beginning to open.
An opportunity is emerging that we have not had before—an opportunity to restore dignity, rebuild our country, and create a future worthy of our children and grandchildren.
I am asking you to believe again.
Believe in the future of our people.
Believe in the restoration of our culture.
Believe that the sacrifices of those who stood courageously for freedom will not be forgotten.
I am working with Persian leaders inside our country who have never surrendered their commitment to the people. I am also working with leaders throughout the world who are daring to hope—and build—with us.
This journey will require courage, wisdom, unity, and patience. It will not belong to one person, one family, or one organization.
It must belong to the people.
